8:23 this Wednesday morning
I have my first real smile since November 16th.
I was out at my car
trying to fall back asleep
with a hot cup of tea
and the snow falling.
All these people
to where they were going
swept right by
and the snow kept falling.
It was like a dream I had
where you told me not to worry
but I did, and I do.
I think we forget sometimes
when it gets so bad we hate our lives
as I watch my city drift asleep
I felt alright for the first time
since November 16th.
I watched as the snow covered the city
like a blanket of new beginnings
I’ve never felt close to winning
or far from lost and wandering.
I wake up bright and early
wonder what the worlds got in store for me.
Try not to let this winter kill me
from a balcony on the third story
I get by.
I think we forget sometimes
when it gets so bad we hate our lives
as I watch my city drift asleep
I felt alright for the first time
since November 16th.
